Remember a few years back during the Bush Administration, when the conservatives cock-blocked on everything remotely linked to science? -Among those were global warming research, and stem cell research. Basically if it was science-based and didn't interface with making money from oil, they weren't having it. I guess you couldn't expect much when they were and still are grappling with the brainbuster ideas of evolution, humans not living amongst dinosaurs, and the earth being more than 6000 years old... Oh well; here's a glimpse of what post-stone-age thinking looks like:
