My Favorite Player
Derrick Rose is from Englewood and reps Chicago to the fullest. When he got hurt last season, his injury broke the city's heart and not because it meant the Bulls' playoff run was over. It was like a family member got injured. Even my mom (who has never watched a single basketball game in her life) called me upset. He's not the first pro athlete to play in his hometown, but I don't think a city has ever bonded with a local star like Chicago has with Rose. You can see some of the reasons why in this video. At a moment when he should be hyping his new shoe and counting that adidas money, he spontaneously breaks down and thanks his fans. If you don't like D.Rose, then you don't like basketball (or humanity).

Terrible Tattoo: 4/20 Edition
What has to be happening in your life that you'd consider a smoked out mascot tattoo? I don't know if this is a post-retirement nod to Michael Jordan, a Quintin Dailey tribute, or if this guy only had the cash for one tattoo and couldn't decide if the theme should be the Bulls or weed. If you're gonna go this route, consider getting the Phillie Phanatic doing lines of coke. Dude's nose is just a huge tube, so that would be pretty cool.
UPDATE: I was just informed that yesterday was 4/20.

The Wait Is Over: Boozer and Twista Rip the Mic
Since signing with the Bulls in 2010, the streets have demanded that Carlos Boozer jump on the mic with Twista and Mario Winans. It's a natural for an Alaskan Duke graduate who once sued Prince to trade verses with Mr. Adrenaline Rush. The song is here and it's as great as you would imagine. Let me know how far you get before you have to turn it off.
I don't know what motivates NBA players to rap, but you would think that after hearing classic cuts from Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, Tony Parker, and Cedric Ceballos, these guys would leave the mic alone. Boozer sounds like he's rapping to a metronome here. He makes Richard Dent's verse on "Super Bowl Shuffle" sound like Kool G Rap's "Men at Work" in comparison. Also, who is he kidding about crossing people over, going to the hole and running back on D? We're talking about a guy who routinely blows layups and can barely jump over a nickel. Boozer hasn't run the floor in transition since 1997. At this point, I'd be concerned about Boozer's ability to handle Lisa Leslie in the post, let alone Udonis Haslem. The Bulls are paying Boozer $14 million this year. It's great that he has time to drop a hot 16, but can't drop 16 points on the Heat.

The Second Coming
Bow down to the best basketball player in the world. Rose falls out of the rafters to block a shot, sprints up the floor, spins through traffic and finishes off the glass around Indiana's bigs for the hoop. And oh yeah, despite the Pacers leading for 47 minutes, Rose led the Bulls on a 16-1 run to win the game. Stunt that, Lebron. If you're not on the Rose bandwagon now, get familiar.

Quintin Dailey RIP
Former Chicago Bull Quintin Dailey died last week at age 49. He was a talented player but a personal disaster, missing a bunch of games for drug violations and getting into other criminal trouble. The Bulls tolerated his issues until he started complaining about the attention Michael Jordan received, essentially ending his time in Chicago.Quintin Dailey's defining moment in a Bulls uniform occurred in a 1985 game against the Spurs. During the game, he borrowed money from a reporter and sent a ballboy to the concession stand to get a slice of pizza. Dailey ate the pizza at the end of the bench and coach Kevin Loughery went nuts. The Bulls lost 106-98.

Chi-Town Stand Up!!!
Stacey King is getting into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame with this call of the Dunk of the Year™. It's safe to say that history will only remember Goran Dragic for getting boomed on by Derrick Rose. Civic pride is finally running high right now.
While I'm here talking about sports, I'd like to send a shout out to all of those Vikes fans who sent me countless emails and text messages throughout the season about Jay Cutler throwing too many picks. Excuse me while I get Alanis Morissette on speed dial.
