think about this when you think about Ted. All of his brothers were killed by bullets and he still walked the streets and in public with no protection. His 2 brothers who were killed have pictures of them hanging up in alot of peoples homes, US, Mexico, Abroad. He wasn't fake about Civil Rights. Everywhere, US, Overseas, Boston, a true Cape Cod Gangster. A friend of America. Dont hate the guy cause he got drunk now and then.

Spoken like a true hypocritical liberal. Ted Kennedy was an elitist peehole. "Man of the people", my ass. He lived in the lap of luxury & preached about health care for "all". Except for him. 90% of the public would never have access to the treatment he received under the plans he pushed. He lived in the shadow of his brothers & killed(from drowning) a woman after a night of drunkenness, only to report it the next day. Nice Ted. Rest in piss.

Question for Snickerdoodles: someone recently wrote that the reason the Libertarian Party will never be in power is that there aren't enough people in the US who're socially liberal and economically conservative. What's your take on that? I'm genuinely interested in a Democrat's view. Sorry to change the subject but I figured it might be an appropriate venue to pose the question.

For the record, I'm not a Democrat... I support them by default in the same way as I'll root for whoever's playing against the (Kobe Bryant led) Lakers. The Dems are far too weak and wishy-washy on true progressive liberal issues, for me to claim them. There's handful of good liberal Democratic leaders (R.I.P. Ted Kennedy) who really do fight for the progressive agenda and the rest of them are whores just trying to get paid or get re-elected.
That being said, I think the Libertarian party could be a viable option i the future... I think if the Republicans weren't as savvy at getting people to vote against their own interests as they have been since Reagan, the Libertarian party could thrive in the United States-theoretically... -Meaning; The Libertarians would need to have a huge grassroots movement to educate people on their platform (I.E. Ron Paul), in order to pull people away from the Republicans and some of the more conservative Dems... However the only realistic way this could ever happen is if there was a massive overhaul in campaign finance reform.- The status quo of American politics boils down to the fact that corporate lobbyists own our entire government, with a few exceptions... (Russ Feingold, Paul Wellstone R.I.P. , Ted Kennedy R.I.P., etc...)

Regardless of his political achievements in social justice and workers rights and all that, it should not be overlooked that he was a coward of a man. Ted Kennedy was an alcoholic, cheated on his wife repeatedly, and lived like a rich playboy for his whole life. he killed a woman because he was driving drunk and spent the next 10 hours trying to figure out how he could salvage his career. that's some heartless shit. then he only receives a suspended sentence (on what should have been at the very least a charge of manslaughter) because he is from a family of political royalty. No matter what he did in his career, you cannot look at his life and respect him. and he doesnt even hold a candle to Bobby. just my opinion.
