WHEN KEEPING IT REAL GOES WRONG?

Hmm, i don't know...you make the call.
In general, it is incredibly frustrating to hear about her resignation, since all these JV-ass-Chuck Todd motherfuckers
in the game can't ask the direct, hard, questions like Helen Thomas can. Even that ass clown Chris Matthewes- whos show
is called "hardball" only adds to the noise, apposed to getting down to brass tacks.

Hate to break the news to (senile grandstander) Helen Thomas, but Israel ain't goin' nowhere. Cue the "Bad Boy For Life" instrumental.

Job one of a journalist is to maintain some level of objectivity. Helen Thomas lost her journalistic cred decades ago, but getting caught on YouTube like this is a little much. Can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be for Obama to have this woman 2 feet in front of him at every press conference? Not kosher, particularly since just under 80% of voting Jews voted for Obama.

I'm not hating on Helen Thomas at all. If nothing else her comments serve as a much needed counterbalance to all of the 'Israel can do no wrong' US foriegn policy stance that continually gets us into trouble with the rest of the world. Everyone throws around the Anti-Semite label a little too freely. Especially considering that the people of Palestine and Israel would have a fairly good chance at peace if their warmongering leaders wouldn't continue to use the omnipresent threat of war to stay in power.

"muslims hate jews always have always will". Jews hate non-jews. Why else would they prevent people from joining their "religion"/social club? I don't care where they go, but yes, get the hell out of Palestine.

I will admit I've never looked too deeply into the Israel/Palestine rift, probably because, as an American, I've always just sorta absorbed the "Israel is the good guy" line and went about my business. so, a few comments.

first, while there are certain things that, if said in public, can cause someone to lose his/her job, we should ask ourselves if this should really be one of them. having her "resign" over this is tantamount to saying, "In America, there is only ONE politically correct position on Israel/Palestine, and if you don't share it, you must either lie about your true feelings if asked about them in public, or go get in the unemployment line." I don't think I agree with this. it's not like she was asked about what she thought about 9/11 and said, "We cheered when 9/11 happened." no, KRS-1 said that. asshole. anyway, it looks like on THIS particular issue, members of American public life are only allowed to have one particular opinion. as a conservative and thus someone whose views are almost never politically correct, this really rubs me the wrong way. I have plenty of reasons to think Hellen Thomas is a senile old cunt who should've retired 20 years ago, but this isn't one of them.

as to Israel/Palestine...so it's my understanding that after the "events" of WWII, the U.N. decided that the state of Israel would be allowed to exist on Palestinian land, and to hell with whoever was currently living there. ummmm, really? seems to me like the Palestinians have every right to be pissed and declare Israel has no right to exist; they just didn't have the means to stop it at the time. haven't we always been taught the Christian value of "might doesn't make right?" I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE JEWISH COUNTERARGUMENT IS TO THIS, but it would have to be pretty mindblowing for them to have a case. or so it seems to me.

I know the Israelis have said that their people occupied that land thousands of years ago, long before the Palestinians moved in. that may be, but the world was a very different place back then. there was no "international community" with well established laws back then. that's not the case today and hasn't been the case for decades if not a few centuries. to me, that argument sounds like this:

say the U.N. decides that Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and most of California is to be annexed into Mexico. the Mexicans move in and set up shop (not too far from the truth, actually). don't you think the citizens of the United States, especially of those particular states, might have a strong opinion about this U.N. ruling? the Mexicans would of course say that their people occupied that land centuries ago before the Americans moved in, so it doesn't matter that the Americans are currently living there and calling that land home. the Mexicans also say it doesn't matter that Americans have lived there ever since there's been any semblance of an international community. "suck it, Americans" (again, pretty much what we're being told today).

as you can well imagine, if neither side is willing to pack up and go somewhere else, there is going to be massive bloodshed. just like in the Holy Land.

I'm willing to believe that there may be a good argument for Israel's existence, but I just don't see how it's fair that they move in and occupy that land. someone please edify me. if I'm wrong I have no problem saying so, but as of right now, I think ole Hellen got fucked.

Well said as always... Rex Goliath is quickly becoming my favorite conservative voice of reason. Politically speaking, I am the polar opposite of conservative, but if you make sense, you make sense -liberal or conservative. I'm just glad to see that there are still some conservatives out there capable of thoughtful rational conversations. Well done sir; I couldn't agree with you more on this topic, (or at least the Israel/ Palestine part of it.) I've always thought Helen Thomas was one of the few White House Press Corps. people actually doing their job and not lobbing up these softball questions for them to knock out park with some bullshit pre-fab talking point.
